LINEAR AND NON-LINEAR MULTIMEDIA
Multimedia may be divided into two broad categories:
1. Linear
- Linear multimedia is presented sequentially, with a clear starting point and a conclusion, and has a logical flow.
- It is suitable for presentations with little to no participation from the audience and may also be referred to as "passive multimedia" because of its nature.
- Examples of linear multimedia are presentation slides and movies.
2. Non - linear
- Non-linear multimedia needs interaction from the user to progress, with the user usually having a range of options to choose from.
- Examples are websites, applications, and video games.
